Torticas de Moron
Traditional Cuban shortbread cookies with lime zest.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons lime zest
Instructions
Preheat oven - Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cream sugar and shortening - Mix sugar and shortening until smooth.
Add flour and zest - When smooth, add flour and lime zest. Mix until well combined.
Shape and bake - Shape into cookies and place on a greased pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Cool - Let cool completely until solidified.
Finish - Sprinkle sugar on top.
Tips
- These cookies have a delicate, crumbly texture.
- Don’t overbake - they should be lightly golden.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
