Torticas de Moron

Traditional Cuban shortbread cookies with lime zest.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lime zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven - Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Cream sugar and shortening - Mix sugar and shortening until smooth.

  3. Add flour and zest - When smooth, add flour and lime zest. Mix until well combined.

  4. Shape and bake - Shape into cookies and place on a greased pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

  5. Cool - Let cool completely until solidified.

  6. Finish - Sprinkle sugar on top.

Tips

  • These cookies have a delicate, crumbly texture.
  • Don’t overbake - they should be lightly golden.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
