Tamagoyaki
Japanese rolled omelette with a sweet and savory flavor.
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon mirin
- 2 pinches pepper
- 3 eggs
- Oil (in pan)
Instructions
Mix ingredients - Mix all ingredients together. Do not overmix, no bubbles.
Heat pan - Heat a square pan and add oil.
Pour first layer - Pour a thin layer of the egg mixture into the hot oiled square pan.
Add toppings - Add toppings if applicable.
Roll - Roll the first layer tightly, then push to one side. Add more egg mixture and roll again.
Repeat - Continue until you’ve used all the egg mixture or reached desired size.
Tips
- Use a rectangular tamagoyaki pan for the traditional shape.
- Optional toppings include green onions, nori, or cheese.
- Serve sliced with rice and other Japanese dishes.
